Georgi Ana Sloo is the author behind Weepy Willow Works. She is named after a San Joaquin Delta river, the Georgiana Slough, where her grandparents lived. Her early curiosity about nature grew into care for people, animals, and the environment, and she has dedicated her career to serving the community. Georgi lives in a small US West Coast town with her family and four-legged friends.

This image, exquisitely illustrated by Lauren Elise Reeves, captures the moment when young Georgi fell in love with nature as she explored the wildlife surrounding her grandparents' home.
As Georgi grew up, time spent with her grandparents was special to her, as were the countless days adventuring outdoors and climbing a magnificent weeping willow that sheltered the nearby riverbank.
More than a tree, Weepy the Willow embodies an essence that is safe and wise, representing the possibility of meaningful connections with the natural world, with life around us, and with ourselves.
